No, the title does not refer to me.
Girl Waits With Gun by Amy Stewart is my Wednesday wanna-read pick this week.
This book is loosely based on one of the first female deputies in the country. The main character, Constance Kopp, has been in hiding with her sisters for about 15 years because of a family secret.
That all changes when someone tries to run their buggy off the road (this is set in pre-Great Depression times) and the dispute over who owes who money turns into much more than that.
Constance is asked to help police convict the men who are wreaking havoc on her life and the lives of her family members. Apparently, she agrees, in what the Goodreads summary describes as “a way that few women in 1914 would have dared.”
This book seems like it would be a fun work of fiction to read, combining a few things I love: a strong female protagonist, history and crime.
I’m excited to read this book, which has received many positive reviews, especially from female readers. I’ll be sure to let you know what I think!
