My Wednesday wanna-read this week was originally published in Spanish and has been translated into English.
The Time in Between by Maria Duenas also falls into the category of potential doorstopper–literally.
At more than 600 pages, this book is one of those that actually will take some time to work through.
However, the Goodreads summary promises the read is quick.
“This sweeping novel, which combines the storytelling power of The Shadow of the Wind with the irresistible romance of Casablanca, moves at an unstoppable pace,” according to the summary.
The story follows Sira, who is left by her lover in Morocco. She makes a new life for herself designing dresses for German socialites during World War II, but sews a code in the hem of her dresses, aiding the British.
This sounds like one of the historical fiction pieces that picks you and carries you along the current of the storyline.
Duenas’ book was a bestseller in Spain and has received international acclaim.
I hope this book is one I will enjoy.
