My Wednesday wanna-read this week is My Sunshine Away by M.O. Walsh.
Walsh’s novel focuses on a neighborhood in Baton Rough in the summer of 1989. When a crime shakes the neighborhood to its core, the dark side of the picture-perfect area is exposed.
Walsh has received critical acclaim for his debut novel, which has drawn comparisons to Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
Personally, I hope Walsh’s story is more developed and enjoyable than Mockingbird is. This to me seems like the kind of book that can tackle several different themes in one strike and make it a good read.
Readers on Goodreads have given the book an average of 3.65 stars, which is a good sign for a debut novel.
Entertainment Weekly’s reviewer gave this book an A-, which is one of the reasons why I added it to my “to-read” list.
