My Wednesday wanna-read this week revolves around a murder mystery that was closed but is reopened.
The Scent of Rain and Lightning by Nancy Pickard focuses on Jody Linder. Jody’s father was murdered when she was just a baby.
More than 25 years later, the man responsible is getting out of prison and will have a new trial. The person responsible for these developments is someone Jody has known for years.
The two families live in a small town, so they’ll inevitably run into each other.
Pickard’s book has gotten an average of more than 3 stars on Goodreads.
Published in 2010, the book was nominated for an Agatha Award for best novel and the Macavity Award for best mystery novel.
This sounds like the type of book I would enjoy, with a mystery within a mystery. Hopefully, it lives up to my expectations.
